-Loved and Lost

Losses are part of life. Bodies succumb to the ravishes of time, financial disasters happen, and we lose people that we love. A second, a minute, an hour, a day ..and it is gone. No matter how you try , you can never replace it. Take the time to appreciate something , no matter what it is, an it is worthwhile. "It is better to have loved and lost", as the saying goes.

The happy part of "loved and lost" is nostalgia - it's delicate, but potent. In Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than just a memory alone.

It's a time machine.... It takes us somewhere now behind us, a place where we ache to go again. It's a dream for the future. It let's us travel the way a child travels on a carousel- around again and again..., and then back to where we began. If we are lucky, that place is somewhere where we knew we were loved.

The pain of that which has been "lost" eventually falls away , if we let it go.
